Getting started
Recurfind is a tool that reads a CSV statement from your bank or card issuer and detects the subscriptions hiding in it — the charges that repeat at a regular interval, what they cost you per year, and whether any of the amounts changed while you were not watching.
Everything runs in your browser. The file you select is never uploaded to any server, stored, or shared.
How to use it
- Export your statement. Log in to your bank or card issuer and download your recent transactions as a CSV file. Most banks provide this under a "Download" or "Export" button on the account or statement page. Common formats include Chase, AmEx, Citi, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Capital One.
- Go to the App page. Drag your CSV file onto the drop zone, or click to browse and select it.
- Review the results. Recurfind lists every detected subscription: the merchant name, the billing interval, the per-charge amount, the annualised cost, and the next expected charge date. Subscriptions whose price changed are shown first.
- Verify the grouping. Each subscription card shows the exact transaction rows from your CSV that the detection was built on. If two charges were grouped incorrectly, you can see why and adjust.
- Mark and download. Tag each subscription as keep or cancel, then download the final list as a CSV to open in your spreadsheet or budgeting tool.
Even one month of data finds something. For the best results — catching quarterly or annual subscriptions — export six months or more.
Frequently asked questions
Does Recurfind connect to my bank?
No. Recurfind has no access to your bank accounts. You export the CSV yourself through your bank's existing download feature, then drop the file on the App page. The tool never logs into anything and never requests credentials.
What CSV formats are supported?
The auto-detection covers most common bank and card issuer export formats — Chase, American Express, Citi, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Capital One, and many others. The tool looks for columns containing date, merchant name, and amount. If your bank uses unusual column names, Recurfind shows which headers it found and asks you to map them manually. If you are unsure, try it: a mismatch produces a clear error message, not a broken result.
Is my financial data safe?
Yes, because it never leaves your machine. The CSV file you select is read by your browser using a standard file input, processed entirely in JavaScript memory, and discarded when you close the tab. There are no servers, no databases, no analytics, no tracking, and no upload. Any developer can verify this by inspecting the page source — the tool is a static HTML file with inline JavaScript.
How much does it cost?
The full tool is free — no trial period, no premium feature unlock, no usage limit, no paid tier. You do not need an account, an email address, or a sign-in. There is nothing to upgrade to.
The tool did not find a subscription I know I am paying for. Why?
Recurfind detects subscriptions by finding at least three charges from the same merchant at the same regular interval within your statement. If the subscription is billed annually and you exported only one or two months of data, there will not be enough charges for the tool to detect it. If the merchant name in your statement varies between transactions (for example "ADOBE" one month and "Adobe Creative Cloud" the next), the tool may not recognise them as the same merchant. For best results, export at least six months of data. A charge that appears only once in your statement cannot be told apart from a one-off purchase and will not be reported.
Can Recurfind cancel subscriptions for me?
No. Recurfind is a detection tool, not a cancellation service. It gives you a ranked list of every recurring charge it found, so you know what you are paying for and how much each costs per year. Cancelling each subscription is your responsibility — each merchant has its own cancellation process that Recurfind cannot automate or advise on.
Can I use Recurfind on my phone or tablet?
Yes. The App page works in any modern browser on any device. The layout adapts to smaller screens, though managing a large CSV with many subscriptions is naturally easier on a desktop. The core detection logic runs identically regardless of device.
Known limitations
Recurfind is an honest tool that does what it says. These limits are intentional or known — read them so you know what the tool is for.
What is not built (and why)
Recurfind is a pure client-side tool by design. Some features you might expect are intentionally absent because they require server-side infrastructure this product does not have. These are deliberate architecture decisions, not omissions.
- No email sending. No email sender is connected. The tool cannot send receipts, alerts, digests, or any notification. Features that would require email (such as price-change alerts) remain unimplemented until an email sender is available.
- No user accounts or data persistence. There is no sign-in, no session storage beyond your current browser tab, and no way to save results between visits. The tool is stateless by design — your data never leaves your machine, and there is nothing to persist server-side.
- No Pro tier. The product is free. There is no paid tier, no checkout form, no upgrade path. Features that would justify a paid tier (persistent tracking across uploads, email alerts, historical trend views) need backend infrastructure this fleet cannot provide for this product. If that changes, the site will be updated transparently.
